5/17/20 Message from the Principal

Good Evening CCA Families,                                                         May 17, 2020

This week begins the official last week of the 2019-2020 school year.  Looking back, we would never have seen this as the way would end our school year. It is hard to believe we have completed another year without seeing our students in person.  Life is very interesting and we are fortunate that to my knowledge, all of our families are finally safe and I hope healthy.

We were able to celebrate with our seniors using the creativity of many individuals.  The highlight of the parking lot party was having our seniors smiling and enjoying seeing their friends from a distance.  Our DJ, the one and only “Million Dolla Man”, Keenen Daniels kept everyone energized as he played music to celebrate with all. We all need to think graduation.  The first and hopefully only date to host our ceremony is in late June.  Everyone cross your fingers for these amazing graduates to be able to have their long awaited ceremony.  I promise I will keep everyone posted with updates as soon as I get them. Just one fact about the 2020 graduates.  They have already secured 4.2 million dollars in scholarships to date and that figure keeps growing!  How about that for some amazement to start the last week of school.

Anyone who did not get to pick up your locker items or turn in school items last week need to come to school this week by Thursday, May 21 to get your belongings.  All items left unclaimed will find new homes at the Northside Neighborhood House on Friday, May22.

I would wait until Thursday at 3PM to check your final grades, to be certain all problems have been resolved and all grades are accurate.  By 4PM, any student who has not returned their textbooks, library books, instruments, or any other items belonging to the school, and that we have not heard from will not be able to see their grades until their obligations have been met.

We promise to work with anyone who needs our assistance, yet we need to know how we can help.  Please reach out to us if you have a need.  We are in this together and that is what makes us better in every way.

Since Monday, May 25 is Memorial Day, the mail will not run.  If you do not receive your report card by Thursday, May 28, please let us know.  If you have a new address, we need that immediately or we know you will not get a report card in the mail.  Send changes to champion_vena@hcde.org.

Stay tune for updates that will come out as we continue to travel new roads and sail through uncharted waters virtually!

Until next time, stay safe, stay healthy, stay involved in the arts, and read as much as possible.

Your report card mailing will include websites and other opportunities to stay on track academically and artistically throughout the summer.

We are CCA!
