Good Evening CCA Families,
I want to begin by saying thank you to the many, many parents and staff who worked for days and for countless hours on making our Dinner and the Arts celebration the best! It was truly a night to remember for CCA.
Our students were shining stars whether on stage, as waiters and waitresses, or behind the scenes working tech. We have so much to be proud of and it comes from working together.

This week we have the following.
On Tuesday, 1/28 we have auditions from 5-?.  All students who are not in tutoring, rehearsals, or BUDS should be picked up by 4:30 or earlier if possible. Many of our new candidates arrive by 4:30.
Our last school tour will be held on Tuesday, 1/28 at 9:30.  No appointment is necessary.  This is the last week to apply for CCA.  Please spread the word to anyone who is interested.  They must apply to even be considered by Friday, January 31.

I am asking that as many of you as possible attend the next community meetings surrounding the school location and building plans be discussed on Tuesday, January 28 at Tyner HS @ 6PM. There is a second meeting on Wednesday, 1/29 at Brown Middle School @ 6PM. So many of us cannot attend the meeting on the 28th due to auditions. I must count on you to be our voices.  The current plan is that we would move to the Brainerd HS site and that Barger would join us for as a K-12 program.  This is unacceptable regarding the K -12 PROPOSAL.

Magnet schools are designed to be reflective of the entire community.  CCA is just that, our current diversity rate is aligned with Hamilton County’s population. It is important that we remain in alignment with our community.  I am proud that our school consists of a population that mirrors those who live in Hamilton County.

A new Performing Arts facility would be ideal, yet if a .34 cent tax increase will not pass where will the close to 50 million dollars come from to provide the programs we now offer.  I think all of us want a state-of-the-art school for our students. Please keep in mind that the people making recommendations are not the final word.  Our school board members will vote on the next moves. Jenny Hill, our board member has been a big supporter of our school. She is a good listener and is a parent of students who attend a magnet school. We have much to be thankful for so, let's work together professionally to maintain the integrity of our program while never losing sight of who we are working for, our students.

There will be an Improvisation show on Thursday, 1/30 at 7PM in the Black Box Theater.  Admission is free.

PAPA is selling plush seat cushions, which can be used on the auditorium chairs & more for only $10 each.  You can order them online on our school Face Book page or on our website under the PAPA tab.

Thanks for all that you do to support our students and our school!
Mrs. Smith
