3/7/21 Message from the Principal

Good Evening CCA Families,    March 7, 2021
This week we have the following.
Do you know someone who has everything and you have no idea how to recognize their birthday or a special occasion or you just want them to know you are thinking of them? PAPA has the solution you are looking for.  I guarantee that smiles and laughter will be what they experience when they look out their window and the lawn is covered with a flock of pink flamingos.  If they have a small lawn, maybe just a ½ of flock is carefully decorating the space. In any event, PAPA will assist in making the experience memorable and a day to remember. This fundraiser is definitely one of a kind.  Place your orders using the link below.  “The You’ve Been Flocked” idea is sure to solve what you need to celebrate all occasions.

Orders and dates will fill quickly!

Our school will be recognized as a “Magnet School of Excellence” at the annual Magnet Schools of America virtual conference in April.  The Chattanoogan had an article this past Saturday highlighting the honor.  Our staff and our students have worked hard this year and it has paid off for everyone.

Beginning next Monday, March 15, we will offer a required grade recovery program for all students failing an academic class.  An after school program will provide the necessary opportunity for those in jeopardy of failing classes for the year a chance to recover their grades.  Rides will pick up students at 5 PM, Monday-Thursday until all missing work that their teachers designate has been completed.  You will be contacted with all of the details surrounding the required program.  Melissa Sarabia is directing the program.  Once you have been notified that your students will be a part of it, questions should be e-mailed to sarabia_m@hcde.org.

Thanks to all that have turned in their letter of intent and parent survey.  Please know that every survey is read and concerns addressed.

Continue to monitor your student’s grades and the use of their Chrome Books.  Many alerts have been coming to us regarding misuse of HCDE student e-mail addresses and of their devices. Proper use of school devices is outlined in the acceptable use policy signed by everyone at registration.  Ms. Johnston has worked nonstop to ensure all devices are working and every student has what they need for their classes.  Thanks for making sure your student is using their school address and device properly.

Wear your masks and stay safe!  Keep your student home if they are sick.  We are making progress with more students back in our building and thriving as learners.  Our at home learners are also moving forward with their work and all will hopefully end this year strong!
Warm Regards,
Mrs. Smith
