5/25/20 Message from the Principal

Happy Memorial Day and Happy Summer,    May 25, 2020

I hope all of you are enjoying the long weekend and the beautiful weather.  The official last day of school was this past Friday, May 22.  Report cards were mailed in the afternoon on Friday, yet due to the holiday weekend, I feel certain that many have not received them yet.  If you have a debt to the school including a lost text book, cafeteria charge, chrome book if not returning to CCA, or possibly a library book, you will receive a letter indicating what you owe.  You will also have no access to Power School until your debt has been cleared.

The office will accept any of the items through Thursday of this week until 3PM.  We can only accept cash at this time of the year.  WE ask that you bring the correct amount as well.

Here is the latest update on Year Books.  Printing has been delayed due to very few workers, yet you will receive your book as soon as they arrive.  I will do a call out and let you know the plan.  Ms. Sowders has been working with Life Touch to keep track of the books.  Please be patient, I promise you will know as soon as they arrive.

One of our graduates, Moises Rodriguez is working on a virtual quilt surrounding the onset of the corona virus.  The project is featured on the HCDE website and will also be posted on the CCA website.  He is seeking artistic work that will be shared with our community and nationwide.  Please check out this great opportunity to share your thoughts creatively. The creativity surrounding his project is reflective of his desire to continue to share the arts with others.

As we look to the future, many ideas surrounding the opening of school in August will be publicized by the media.  I assure you that our district office is working diligently to put together a plan that keeps the safety and well being of all as a focus.  I will share updates throughout the summer as soon as definite plans are determined.

A 2020 graduate, Maggie Wilkinson has made her mark as a 2020 Presidential Scholar.  She is one of 5,600 students who applied for this award across the US to be recognized by the president. She is one of the 61 who have been named a presidential scholar. She is an amazing writer, student, and a true artist.  She will head to Princeton University to leave her mark as a CCA graduate.  So Proud of her! Read about her in today’s newspaper.

If you need to come to school at any time, please know that we are following CDC guidelines. You must wear a face covering, sign in, and wear gloves. (We have gloves at the sign in table) If you are experiencing any symptoms related to the virus such as a fever, please do not come to the school.  We will gladly help you virtually.

We have weathered quite an unusual end of the year.  I am proud of our staff, families, and our students for their unending desire to end 2019-2020 school year on a positive note.  We are better together in all that we do!
We are CCA!
Mrs. Smith
